spoilers ahead, obviously. also, the first handful of thoughts are about the finale because i’m copying from my existing finale notes before just returning to this note whenever an “AND ANOTHER THING!!!” thought occurs to me. the purpose of this note is really to give myself a place to talk at the wall about stuff only i care about.
- i LIKED that fanservice/easter eggs referencing the ‘87 cartoons or the comics didn’t ruin the experience for new fans. but season 3 changed that – i think kit cloudkicker and the rescue rangers were a little weird, and the whole finale with may and june fucked it up big time
- i wished the webby storyline did not include blood relation
- senior junior woodchucks episode is too self-contained. i needed it to be the start of a HUEY ARC, not a “collect the missing mysteries” arc. i wished they had an extra season to wrap up the show entirely, and have that be webby’s season, because huey ended up having Not A Season.
- while i’m at it: senior junior woodchucks wrapped up way too neatly.
- i wish we had a donald & huey ep, or a donald & triplets ep, where it shows the importance of donald in their lives. something that shows how donald can make a difference where della and scrooge can’t.
- the duke of making a mess is fun, but i think the choice to make it a lena & huey moment was weird. lena’s issue and huey’s issue are not the same. it would have been great to pair him with donald for this moment.
- seriously, the clone thing was seriously so out of left field, and so it was annoying to me. webby’s past wasn’t foreshadowed at all
- webby not feeling suspicious of the clones was OOC. you can argue it’s because she was so excited to have a family or some explanation as to who she is, but…??? she’s never been that interested and never shown any interest in her personal history across the series?
- webby/scrooge dynamic isn’t even THAT important for it to be such a big thing in the ending! in fact, it’s even a little one-note imo
- her calling scrooge “dad” was cringe…
- launchpad as a hero doesn’t matter to me… maybe that’s just my triplet bias but i really didn’t feel the emotional impact of him wearing the gizmo suit.
- they speedran may + june’s rehab, versus lena’s. we KNOW you can write a good enemy-to-ally arc. the lesson here is DON’T ADD CHARACTERS IN THE FINALE
- donald/daisy adopting may and june was fucking crazy to me. WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU’RE GOING TO RANDOMLY TRAVEL WITH THESE TWO CHILDREN?
- it just annoys me that any stuff FROM NOW ON in-universe will have to include may and june. i pretend i do not see them.
- huey’s not really adverse to adventure/danger. he just gets caught up in rules/details/prep and gets frazzled if he isn’t prepared or things don’t go as he expects. so i don’t know what his hesitation in the Legends of Legendquest B-plot is.
- huey’s fethry episode was weak. does huey see himself in fethry? does huey care for fethry? he’s also never really seen himself as weird before nor has he felt bad about it, so the payoff is very ???.
- it’s weird that in the finale credits, they group up beakley + donald and della + manny. HUH… but i guess it was important to put webby + HDL + scrooge together. I GUESS. if i could, i’d put donald + della together, manny with team science (gyro, fenton… i suppose gandra, but i don’t know that i’d give her that much importance), scrooge + webby + beakley, and the triplets on their own.
