- huey does not know maggie is a girl when they become online friends. they never talk over the mic, and her username is something fairly gender-neutral (ashendemon8v8…). her avatar and typing style are also fairly gender-neutral.
- not sure yet how they become friends, because i have no experience playing a game like LoLQ… watch this space

second kiss
i just love the concept of a second kiss. like, after the magic of the first kiss it’s like, of course they want to see each other again. and do that again. but there’s a mutual wondering about if the other person is on the same page.
like, when they Do next see each other again after the first kiss, it’s probably in a normal context! like, meeting up to go to the library together or something… and they have that mutual “idk if they want to kiss again right away but i really do, and is this something we can do casually now like as a greeting or do i have to wait for the end of our hangout, etc.” ahhh young love…
AND LIKE. WHAT IF MAGGIE DOESNT MOVE TO DO IT AGAIN (i imagine she initiates the first) OR SHE ACTS FAIRLY NORMAL AND HE’S LIKE. AHHHHHHH. (“YOU GAVE ME A LIFE ALTERING FIRST KISS I WANNA KISS YOU MORE!!!!!!”)
or theyre cockblocked. they’re about to say their byes and start to tentatively lean in to have their second ever kis but huey’s brothers show up.. or maggie’s parents pick her up… TEENS. the possibilities are endless. i love an awkward moment. then they have to part ways without it happening… text each other embarrassedly like “i really wanted to kiss you.” young love!!!!!

pause. it super works out that i based maggie’s username on byleth (ashendemon) on a whim because!
- my huemags theme song has the speaker (huey) referring to the love interest as a shooting star
- byleth aka sothis aka fell star
- 🌠 emoji colors are blue and yellow
- maggie is the one underachieving (at first) member of her high achieving family (stars!), so people think of her as a dud (fallen star?!)
- cute to think about huey reframing the way she thinks of herself (falling star → shooting star)…!
- huey and maggie meet postcanon, when the triplets are 13. if they were born 2007, that would be 2020. fe3h came out in 2019, so if i wanted to make maggie’s username a direct reference to byleth (as in maggie herself is an fe3h fan, and fe3h exists in the ducktales universe) i could. i don’t know if i want to. we’ll see
things i think would be cute
- he tries to branch out of the woodchucks by playing at a local game tournament – maggie watches him play and encourages him
- scene in which both she and della are like “CRUSH THE OPPONENT!!!” and louie notices the similarity and is like, ewww he’s dating MOM
- maggie inspires huey to want to go to college too. her junior year, he tells her so shyly about it because it’s such a big commitment to want to follow her to school – but she’s so so happy and tackles him in a hug!!!!
- huey jealous boy and denies it ^__^!!! at some point in their friendship-slash-????, he’s this when maggie seems to show interest in someone else:
